Max Burger opened its doors Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 70 East Main St. in Avon — the second location for the concept, 17 years after the original opened in West Hartford in 2009. The restaurant is operated by Max Hospitality, which already runs Max A Mia on Avon's West Main Street, along with Max Restaurant Group staples across Connecticut and Massachusetts: Max Oyster Bar, Max Fish, Savoy Pizzeria, and more.
The spot is branded an "upscale gastro-pub," with a menu that goes past burgers into sandwiches, cocktails, beer and wine. Managing Partner James Stone, who also leads the Max Kitchen location in Hartford, is running the Avon restaurant. The company notes the concept has been in operation since 2009 and positions this opening as a deliberate expansion despite a tough year for restaurants nationwide.
