Daily Grind CT, the Unionville coffee shop at 17 Depot Place, has opened a second location at Tunxis Mead Park, 80 Tunxis Mead Road in Farmington, according to Explore Farmington. An official ribbon-cutting was held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8:30 a.m., deliberately timed before the morning's first recreation soccer games. The location serves the crowd that flows through one of Farmington's major recreation complexes — athletic fields, a skate park, playground, pavilions and a boathouse — with hot and iced coffee among the offerings.
The expansion is worth a second look from any owner in a town with a busy municipal complex. Daily Grind didn't chase a second downtown storefront; it went where captive foot traffic already gathers on a schedule everyone can predict — Saturday mornings, tournament weekends, high school games. Recreation-adjacent food and drink is a niche most Valley towns haven't fully exploited, and the timing trick (open before the season starts, ride the calendar) costs almost nothing. For businesses in Farmington, Unionville and neighboring towns with similar complexes: the model is portable, and the first mover in each town usually gets the habit.
